Courtland – Joan Slade Minor, 66, died August 30, 2008 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lexington, MA, a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Slade. Mrs. Minor formerly coordinated the Acolytes and was on The Altar Guild at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, and later was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Country Acres Garden Club and the Southampton Memorial Hospital Auxillary for many years. She enjoyed sailing, canoeing, and kayaking.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 44 years, Edward Colquitt Minor; her daughter, Elizabeth Colquitt Austin-Minor and husband, Jay Alan Austin, of Duluth, MN; one grandson, Benjamin Thomas Austin; and one brother, William Slade of Westminster, MD.
A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 10 am at St. Luke's Episcopal Church with the Rev. James W. Browder, III, and the Rev. Benjamin Duffey officiating. Internment will be private. Wright Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
