Franklin – James Curthbert "Jimmy" Roberts, III, 71, passed away March 18, 2020 in his home.  Born in Richmond and a life-long resident of Southampton County, he was the son of the late James C. "Jay" Roberts, Jr. and Frances Cobb Roberts.  Jim was also predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Cheryl Christine Nettles Roberts.  He was a 1966 graduate of Franklin High School and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.  Jimmy was a retired Beater Engineer on #3 paper machine at International Paper and was a member of VFW Post 4411.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Stephanie Christine Roberts, his grandson Alex Cole, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

A private funeral will be held Saturday, March 21, 2020 with the Rev. James. W. Browder, III officiating.  Viewing will be Friday from 10AM to 4PM in Wright Funeral Home.  The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or any Suicide Prevention group.  Due to the Coronavirus situation, a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date.
