Obituary

Windsor – James Vernon "Jimmy" Carr, Sr., 72, passed away October 7, 2019 in Sentara Obici Hospital surrounded by family and friends.  Born in Isle of Wight County, he was a son of the late James Lonnie Carr and Nancy Verna Bradshaw Carr and was also predeceased by a brother William Lonnie Carr.  Jimmy was a retired Roll Finishing Clamp Truck Operator on the #2 paper machine for International Paper.  He was a member of Carrsville Hunt Club and Delaware Hunt Club.  Jimmy was also a member of Colosse Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years Nita Vick Carr; two sons James Vernon "Jim" Carr, Jr. (Farrah) of Suffolk and William Tracy Carr (Candice) of Windsor; six grandchildren Kristin, Jordan, Austin, Brennen, Melissa, and Tiffany Carr; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved yellow lab Gator.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday October 10, 2019 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Webb and Rev. Steve Yarbrough officiating. Burial will follow in Windsor Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Colosse Baptist Church, 6361 Rhodes Dr., Windsor, VA 23487.  www.wrightfuneralhome.org
