Franklin – Jessie Leigh Storey White, 93 departed this life to join friends and family in heaven on December 31, 2025.
Born to the late Carrie Leigh Askew and Jesse Holloman, she was adopted later by her mother's second husband, the late Ike Storey. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Enos L. Holloman and his wife Barbara, and a grandson William G. Drake.
Jessie made banking her career, beginning as a teller and later becoming an officer. Between work and raising children, she enjoyed playing games of bingo, bridge, and poker. Other favorite activities included shopping, traveling, spending time at Nags Head, and attending or hosting family gatherings.
Jessie and Miles were blessed with 67 years of marriage. They enjoyed spending time in the garden, followed by cooking and canning everything the garden yielded. Together they traveled the world, but she especially loved a Caribbean Cruise. They set a beautiful example of love and friendship to those around them.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Miles J. White, Jr., one daughter, Rebecca W. Drake (Michael) and one son, Miles J. White, III., four grandchildren, Wendy D. Burgess (Adam), Westley B. Drake (Maci), Lauren W. Bryant (Larry), and Keaton J. White, and seven great grandchildren, Bailey Burgess, Blake Burgess, Skylie Drake, Dawson Drake, Brayden White, Ivey Bryant, and Kamden White.
Jessie was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.
A funeral will be held at 2pm Sunday January 4, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Hank Teague officiating. The burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms, VA. The family will receive friends Saturday January 3, 2026 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm in the funeral home and suggests memorial donations be made to High Street United Methodist Church, P O Box 218, Franklin, VA 23851.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you for the wonderful care given to Jessie while living at Riverside Lifelong Health & Rehabilitation Smithfield, especially the workers in The Garden.
