Ivor – Jesse Alvin Uzzell, Jr., 86, passed away May 22, 2023 in Sentara Obici Hospital surrounded by his girls.  He fought a good fight.  Born in Isle of Wight County, VA, he was a son of the late Jesse Alvin Uzzell Sr. and Esther Virginia Wise Uzzell.

Jesse was a US Airforce Veteran and a retired pipe fitter for Union Camp Corporation where he was a former Union President.  He was a member of Corinth Friends Meeting.

Jesse touched so many lives.  He will be remembered for his colorful humor, stylish attire, and ability to repair anything broken.  Jesse was most proud of his loving family.  He enriched many lives with his laughter and wisdom and if you knew Jesse, you knew his kind heart.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Joyce Raiford Uzzell; two daughters, Kimberly Uzzell Rice (Eric) of Chesapeake and Tracey Uzzell (Mike) of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Savannah, Alexandra, Baylor, Myles, Brooke, Justin, and Jordan; four nieces, Garnet, Velvet, Melissa, and Jackie; and one nephew, Billy.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in Corinth Friends Meeting with Princess Mandy Smith officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall.  Memorial donations may be made to Corinth Friends Meeting or Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad.
