Sedley - Jerry Thomas Joyner, 65, left for his eternal resting place when the good Lord called him home on Jan. 24 ^th , 2021. He was surrounded by those who loved him dearly and passed peacefully into God's loving arms.

Jerry requested to be laid to rest on the Lord's day, so a graveside service will be held in Sedley at Rosemont Cemetery on Sunday, January 31st, 2021 at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Michael Baugham presiding.

Jerry grew up in Sedley all his life and attended Southampton High School. He was preceded by his parents James Thomas and Ruth Wilson Joyner. Left to cherish his memory: his brother Ronnie Joyner; nephew, James "Mike" Joyner and his wife Crystal, great-nephew Brandon Carter, and great-niece Emma Joyner; nephew, Jason Joyner and his wife Kyrsten, great-niece, Alexa Cardman, and great-nephews, James and Eli Joyner.

Jerry was loved by many and had several very special friends throughout his life, but a few touched his heart and were like family to him: Mitzi Lusk (Jimmy), Jenna Lusk Anderson (Stan), and Jake Lusk; Heather and Travis Vann, and their two children, T.J. and Lillie-Ann, who Jerry loved and treated like the grandchildren he never had; and Hailee Ashworth and Marilyn Baugham Tomasic.

He was a sandblaster and painter by trade and second-generation owner of Joyner's Sandblasting and Paint Company. Jerry had a strong work ethic and was known by many as an adventurous, outgoing, patient, fun-loving person who never met a stranger. Many who knew him as their friend, called him not just a friend, but a best friend, as they knew he always had their back and was always there when they needed him. He loved his motorcycles, loved to fish, kayak, and loved that 1972 candy-apple red Corvette he owned back in the day!

To his nephews: "he was our hero, he gave the best advice", and taught them lessons they'll cherish throughout their life. He was their dad's, Ronnie's best friend, and for that, they will forever be truly grateful.

Jerry's love of Christ grew deeper and more beautiful as time went on. His cherished bible had been duct-taped together more times than you can imagine, but it was good as gold to him. It's without a doubt that he is walking the streets of heaven with his Lord and Savior, and his mom and dad right now. May you rest in peace, until we meet again..
