Capron- Jere Kenneth Detwiler, 74, passed away February 10, 2017 at McGuire Veteran's Hospital in Richmond.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Mason Crichton Detwiler. Left to cherish his memory are his two devoted daughters, Wendy D. Wand and her husband, Paul, and Nancy D. Goodman and her husband, Mike; his sister, Nancy Moore; and three beloved grandchildren, Georgia Ansley Wand, Shaia Mason Goodman and Garrett Stafford Wand.

Born in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Byron and Katherine Murphy Detwiler. Jere retired from the USMC as a Warrant Officer, 2 ^nd Class, after 21 years of service and from the Virginia Department of Corrections where he was an electrical supervisor. He was a member of Capron United Methodist Church.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be conducted Thursday at 1 PM at Capron Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Journey's Way, #1125, Voluntary Services, 1201 Broad Rock Blvd., Richmond, VA 23249. This is the Hospice unit at McGuire who provided the most compassionate medical and spiritual care to Jere in his final days.
