Newsoms - Jean Gray Ivey, 82, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC. She joins her beloved husband of 62 years, George Ralph Ivey. Mrs. Ivey was born June 21, 1933, a daughter of the late Berkeley Gray and Carrie Drake. She was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for several years. Her happiest times were spent in her kitchen cooking, feeding, and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Ivey was a loving mother to three daughters, Varner Jean Ivey, Teresa Ivey VanDamme (David) and JoAnne Courtney Ivey. She was a grandmother to her "Baby Boy" Cole Thomas Ivey. Mrs. Ivey is also survived by her siblings: Anne Futrell (Roy), Berkley Gray (Mary), Kenneth Gray (Marion), Joe Gray (Phyllis), and Michael Gray as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 2PM Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Barnes United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darwin Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 9:00 PM Friday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin and suggests that memorial donations be made to Barnes United Methodist Church c/o Betty W.
