Zuni – Jean Paige Galtress, 79, passed away on April 17, 2024 in her home with her family by her side.  Born and raised in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Conrad Norton Holt, Sr. and Inez Lowe Holt.  She was also predeceased by a sister, Sherry H. Pickens and two brothers, Merle R. Holt, Sr. and Conrad N. Holt, Jr.

Jean was a graduate of Southampton High School and was a full time wife and mother.  She took care of children her entire life.  Jean was a member of Corinth Friends Meeting.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, William Jasper "Bill" Galtress, Sr.; four daughters, Billie Jean Cartwright, Ellen G. Hulker (Keith), Janet Paige Carr (Mike), and Merle A. Galtress (Kyler); a son, William J. "Billy" Galtress, Jr. (Laura); a sister, Carolyn E. Tart; fourteen grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM Monday, April 22, 2024 in Corinth Friends Meeting with Amanda Baker officiating.
