Wakefield – Jean Grace Phillips Allerton Burdick, 92, passed away September 23, 2017 at her home. Mrs. Burdick was a native of Newport News and was a daughter of the late Jesse Lee Phillips, Sr. and Joella Blanche Surles Phillips. Mrs. Burdick was a graduate of Newport News High School and was a former employee of the Daily Press and was a former horticulturist.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Joella Allerton Wein, Cindy Carter and Danielle Edington, one son Samuel Allerton, Jr., seven grandchildren, Michelle Talley, Amanda Whitaker, Devin and Danton Wein, Jessica and Justin Edington and Colton Allerton.
