Franklin – Jean Evelyn Bradshaw, 89, passed away January 7, 2026 in Sentara Obici Hospital.  Born and raised in Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Homer Cook Sr. and Mary Saunders Cook.  She was also predeceased by her husband, Jeptha Jhue "J.J." Bradshaw, Jr.; a grandson, Hunter Scott; and three brothers, Homer Jr. "Bud", Pete, and Edward Lee "Bubba" Cook.

Jean taught Cosmetology at Hicks Academy and Southampton High School.

Left to cherish her memory are six children, Connie Carr (Wayne), Karlus Bailey (Betty), Jo Ann Scott (Jeremiah Fentress), Rita Tanner (Rusty), Jay Bradshaw (Wilma), and Wanda Latimer (Travis); a sister, Grace Rodgester; a brother, Nick Cook (Joan); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; and a special friend, Bill Schafer.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Tuesday, January 13, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Inman and Rev. Curtis Faison officiating.  Burial will follow in Ivor Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
