Jane K. Eason

Suffolk – Jane Kauffman Eason, 68, was set free March 1, 2007 after a 35 year struggle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born in Suffolk, a daughter of the late Dr. Carl A. Kauffman, O. D. and Frances Rivercomb Kauffman. She was a graduate of Fairfax Hall High School in Waynesboro and graduated from Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, D. C. with a degree in fashion merchandising. Jane had been a former pre-school teacher at the Gingerbread House in Franklin and a former Girl Scout leader. She loved sewing, cooking and gardening. A dedicated military wife, Jane was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Theodore P. "Ted" Eason, Jr., July 16, 2006.
Survivors include two daughters, Marietta Nichols and husband, Chris, of Norfolk, Jill Rowe and husband, Rick, of Virginia Beach; one son, Paul A. Eason and wife, Anne, of Chesapeake; one sister, Anne Hudson Merritt and husband, Jack, of Tucson, Az,; three grandchildren, Melissa Riker and husband, Randy, of Dade City, Fl., Cole A. Eason, and Kayleigh A. Eason, both of Chesapeake; and one great-grandson, Jackson Henry Riker; a niece, Elizabeth Merritt of Mesa, Az; and a nephew, John Merritt of Tucson.
A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 am in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Sharon James officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY. 10305.
