Franklin – Jamie Griffin Vaughan, 74, passed away September 12, 2023 in her home.  Born in Roanoke Rapids, NC and raised in Smithfield, VA, she was a daughter of the late James Felts Griffin and Marian Francis Griffin.  She was also predeceased by a sister, Nancy Ann Griffin Fore and a brother, Virgil S. "Tinker" Abel, III.

Jamie was a graduate of Smithfield High School and received an Associate's Degree from Chowan College.  She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for Portsmouth Naval Hospital and a member of the Virginia Nursing Association.  She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 53 years, Lonnie Mitchell Vaughan; a daughter, Amy Michelle Vaughan of Greenville, NC; a son, Loren Christopher Vaughan of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Winston McCourry Vaughan and Gabrialla Francis Vaughan.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM Friday, September 15, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Charles Qualls officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 6350 Center Dr., Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502.
