Franklin - James Edward Moyler, Jr. passed away on June 3, 2017 in Williamsburg, VA. He was born in Franklin, VA on April 1, 1930. Ed graduated from Franklin High School, attended Washington and Lee University for both his undergraduate and law degrees. While there, he was a member of the Sigma Society and past president of the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. After serving as an officer in the US Coast Guard, Ed returned to Franklin to practice law with his father and continued on for 55 years. He served his community in many ways. One way that he particularly enjoyed serving was as City Attorney, pro-bono, for many years. Ed loved High Street United Methodist Church and faithfully served in leadership there, as well as in the Franklin Rotary Club. Ed was an avid golfer, a wonderful man, a role model for his children, a friend to many, and always a cheerleader in life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, who was loved and cherished by all.
Ed is predeceased by his wife, Carole Rees Moyler; parents, James Edward Moyler and Amelia Walker Moyler; granddaughter Maggie Moyler, sister, Mary B. Smith and brother in law, Bob Smith.
He is survived by his son, Jim Moyler and wife Charlotte; his daughter Rees and husband Tommy Johnston; daughter Amy and husband, John McCarthy; his grandchildren: Welden Johnston, wife Michelle, and Atlee Johnston; CC, John and Walker McCarthy; and James (Jake) Moyler.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30PM Tuesday, June 6 th, 2017 at Franklin's Poplar Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to High Street United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
