James Lewis
Koenig
Feb 22, 1948 — Jun 30, 2026
Colerain
Colerain, NC - James Lewis Koenig, better known as Jim, passed away peacefully at ECU Health in Greenville, NC on Tuesday, June 30 after an extended illness.
Jim was born on February 22, 1948 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to the late Robert Lewis Koenig and Ruth Marie Mattern. After high school Jim enlisted in the Navy from 1967-1971, SK3 [E-4]. Upon returning home, Jim worked with CF Industries until their closure, then later moving to Georgia Pacific in Conway.
Jim was an avid NC State fan, and jokingly loved to say his favorite team was ABC…Anybody but Carolina! The only "Carolina" he liked and approved of was his first grandchild, Carolina Odom Daughtry. Jim was also a coin enthusiast, and could usually be found in his booth at the Ahoskie Flea Market on his days off, organizing his coins and digging through his baseball cards.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Fred, and his sisters Sue and Nancy.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sherrie Daughtry of Little Washington, NC, Emily Brock (Kendall) of Newsoms, Va and Rebecca Liverman (Owen) of Colerain, and 5 grandchildren; Carolina and Perry Daughtry, Tanner and Tate Lewis Brock, and Adalynne Liverman. His brother, Robert Koenig (Karen) of Lancaster, PA also survives him.
Per Jim's wishes, there will be no service.
