Christiansburg – James Herbert "Jimmy" Holland, Sr., 82, passed away July 1, 2017 at his home. Mr. Holland was born in Isle of Wight County and was a former resident of Windsor. He was a son of the late Herbert Wilton and Bessie Mae Pierce Holland and was predeceased by a sister Anna Mae Williams and three brothers, Edward Griffin, Willie Jay Pierce and Richard Holland.

He was an Army Veteran and a graduate of Windsor High School and Virginia Tech. He had worked twelve years at the Windsor Post Office and farmed for 50 years in Isle of Wight County. Mr. Holland was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church and had been a former member of the Orbit Hunt Club, former President of the Isle of Wight Ruritan Club and was voted top farmer in Isle of Wight County in 1974 and had been active with 4-H.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years Barbara S. Holland, three daughters, Debra Holland of Suffolk, Cheryl Willis (Ron) of Arizona and Patricia Whitley (Frankie) of Suffolk, one son James H. Holland, Jr. (Lady) of Smithfield, one sister Ann Felts of Windsor, six grandchildren Jonathan, Chris (Julia) and Kevin Whitley, Travis Holland (Erin), Marissa Myers (Aaron) and Alicia Alkire, seven great grandchildren, Kylar, Dallas and Elle Holland, Alexis, Xavion and Emerson Whitley and Finley Myers.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11AM Friday July 21, 2017 at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery on Milner's Rd in Suffolk with the Rev. Robert Cofield officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday July 20, 2017 from 5 to 7PM at Harleys Haven, 15395 Bowling Green Rd., Windsor and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, (855- 448-3997), P.O.
