Courtland- James Edward Foster, Sr., 78, passed away April 10, 2016. A native of Greensville County he was a son of the late Nathan and Nora Foster and was also predeceased by his first wife Charlotte and a brother Nathan .

Mr. Foster was retired from International Paper after 41 years of service and was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards with his buddies at Beechwood Country Club in Ahoskie.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Ann Foster, three children, Vanessa Jones (Jimmy), Jimmy Foster (Randi), Todd Foster (Nanette), two step children, Cindy Gooch (Chris), Tom Hains (Diane), one brother, Frank Foster (Gracie Ann), one sister, Virginia Dilday, brother- in- law and sister- in- law, Joe and Mary Thomas, nine grandchildren, Chad, Monica, Andy, Brandon, Alexis, Kensey, Austin, Tyler and Nathan, five great grandchildren, Kirstyn, Koryne, Haleigh, Makayla and Avrie. Also numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws from the Vaughan family.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday, April 14, 2016 in Wright Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Wednesday at the funeral home and suggest that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Association. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
