James Joseph Flowers

Drewryville – James Joseph Flowers, 90, passed away August 29, 2026 in his home with his family by his side. Born in Alberta, VA, and raised in Courtland, he was a son of the late Henry Lee Flowers and Evie Forest Flowers. He was also predeceased by three sisters, Louise Bryant, Lorraine Foster, and Oneta Hancock, and a brother, Ralph Flowers.

James was an Army Veteran and the owner of Flowers 66 for 36 years. He was a member of Courtland Masonic Lodge and a founding and lifetime member of the Drewryville Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a member and Deacon of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Paulette Gordon Flowers; a daughter, Paula F. Nunnally (Bernard) of Warfield; two grandsons, Garrett Ramsey (Jordan) and Zachary Ramsey; step grandchildren, Jared Nunnally and Savannah Nunnally; a great grandson, Cooper James Ramsey; and a sister, Joyce Rabil.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Wednesday, September 2, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Mr. Mark Turner and Rev. Mari Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in Drewryville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Tuesday in Wright Funeral Home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Thomas Memorial Baptist Church or Drewryville Volunteer Fire Department.
