Carrsville – James Lonnie Carr, 89, widower of Verna Bradshaw Carr, died May 18, 2008. He was born in Southampton County, a son of the late Jack and Dolly Fowler Carr. Lonnie was retired from the Norfolk Ford Plant, a honorary member of the Carrsville Hunt Club, and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his son, James V. "Jimmy" Carr, Sr., and wife, Nita, of Windsor; two grandchildren, Jim Carr, and wife, Farrah, of Suffolk and Tracy Carr and wife, Candice, of Windsor; five great-grandchildren, Kristin, Jordan, Austin, Melissa, and Tiffany Carr. Mr. Carr was predeceased by three sisters, Carrie Luke, Mattie Snook, and Mary Stephenson; and four brothers, Jasper, Rossie, Leonard, and Raleigh Carr.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends today (Monday) from 7 to 8:30 pm at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to Colosse Baptist Church, 6361 Rhodes Drive, Windsor, Va. 23487. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
