John Frank Holland, 70, owner of the Holland Farm Market, passed away February 27, 2008 at his home. A lifelong resident of the Holland area of Suffolk, he was a peanut farmer and had 17 years of service with Union Camp Corporation. He was a former member of the Virginia National Guard, a member of the Holland Hunt Club, Fox Hunters Club of Holland, and the Brotherhood and Stewardship of Holland Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Lois Briley Holland; two daughters, Jill H. Peacock and husband, Jeff, and Kathie H. Ratchford and husband, Ed; two sons, Rod F. Holland and wife, Kathy, and Joey B. Holland and wife, Sara; a sister, Keaton H. Garber; grandchildren, Bradley H. Peacock, Jeffrey and Joshua Peacock, Rachel and Brooks Holland, Katelyn, JT and Jake Holland, Mary Beth, Mandy and Joshua Ratchford and Jennifer Sylva. He was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Edrie Holland, and a brother, Carey Holland.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Robert Bunn officiating. Interment will follow in Holland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence and following the service at Holland Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to Holland Baptist Church or the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad.
