Obituary

Sedley – Ina Lord Burgess, 83, widow of James Wilton "Bill" Burgess, died November 10, 2007 at her son's residence. She was assistant to the Southampton Memorial Hospital administrator, Gerald W. DeHaven and retired after 27years service. Mrs. Burgess was a member of the Order of Eastern Star where she was a former Worthy Matron and the Franklin Business and Professional Women. After retirement, she was owner and operator of Franklin Typing and Copy Service and secretary for the Hunderdale United Church of Christ for several years. She was a member of Grace Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Thomas W. Burgess and wife, Alice, of Franklin; one son-in-law, Chris Collins of Sedley; two sisters, Alta and Lena, both of Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Greg Lassiter, Clete Lassiter, Ken Burgess, Jim Burgess and wife, Helen, Mariah C. Cobb, Michael Collins; and eight great-grandchildren, Dylan, Tomlin, Tyler, and Madeline Burgess, Ashley and Garrett Lassiter, Alex and Noah Cobb. Mrs. Burgess was predeceased by two daughters, Vicki Rae Lassiter and Judy B. Collins, and a brother Ray Lord.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 am Thursday at Grace Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mary Marshall and the Rev. James M. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 pm at Wright Funeral Home and other times at the home of Tommy and Alice Burgess, 31326 Whistle Stop Drive.
