Franklin – Ida Askew Still, 75, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, died October 20, 2007 at her residence. Mrs. Still was born in Henderson, NC, a daughter of the late George Graham and Katie Mae Hedgepeth Askew. She was a former member of Parkview Baptist Church in Newport News and was now an active member of Buckhorn Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, bowling, and cooking.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of years, Harry Arthur "Pop" Still; four daughters, Carol Harris and husband, Walter, of Newport News, Jean Greene of Hayes, Donna Machado and husband, Santos, of Hampton, Debbie Jeter and husband, Spencer, of Franklin; one son, Ricky Still and wife, Teri, of Yorktown; three step-daughters, Gloria Muther and husband, James, of California, Brenda Olson and husband, John, of Manassas, Betty Jo Cates and husband, James, of Westwego, La.; step-son, Kenneth Still of Hampton; twenty four grandchildren; and thirty one great-grand-children. Mrs. Still was predeceased by a daughter, Frances Barnes, three sisters and one brother.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 2 pm in Buckhorn Baptist Church, Como, NC, with the Rev. Jay Brabben and the Rev. John Hackney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today (Monday) from 7 to 8:30 pm at Wright Funeral Home. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her devoted caregivers, Kyle Sutton of Williamsburg, Tiffany Mayle-Jones of Hampton, and Michelle Jeter of Como.
