Capron – Hugh Gillette Pittman, 61, passed away February 19, 2017 at his home surrounded by family. Hugh was a son of the late W.T. Pittman, Sr. and Frances Gillette Pittman. He was a Research Specialist for Virginia Tech Research Center in Holland.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Robin Rodgester Pittman, a daughter, Margaret "Tess" Pittman of Harrisonburg, three sons, Jacob Pittman of Charlottesville, Chris Johnson and Adam Pittman both of Georgia and Robin's daughter, Mackenzie Ferguson of Capron, four grandchildren, Caleb, Reagan, Job and Aubrey, three brothers, W.J. "Bill" Pittman, III, John Pittman and Wilmer Pittman, his stepmother, Barbara Pittman all of Courtland, Hugh's father–in-law, William Rodgester, Jr of Ivor and mother-in-law, Grace Rodgester of Capron and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 11AM Wednesday February 22, 2017 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Lawrence Jarratt officiating. The burial will follow at Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Tuesday at the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Capron Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O.
