Courtland – Hugh Jefferson Coleman, 77, passed away March 25, 2017 at Sentara Obici Hospital. Hugh was born in Nelson County, VA and was a son of the late James and Mallie Coleman and was also predeceased by his wife, Shannah Rae Coleman, a sister, Bessie Mae Fitzgerald and a niece, Janet Kitchen.

He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church and an associate of Dan Crumpler and Rowland Jernigan Properties.

Left to cherish his memory is one son, Hugh Jefferson "Jeff" Coleman, Jr. (Rhonda) of Portsmouth, two grandsons, Hugh J. "Trey" Coleman, III and Trevor Wayne Coleman, two sisters, Ann Kitchen (George) of Courtland and Mary Pierson of Maryland, one brother, Jim Coleman (Maryann) of Chesapeake, a niece, Rhonda Ann Fabbri (Thomas) a nephew, Brad Coleman, Jeff's mother, Lillian Vallejo and a special friend, Georgia Barnett.

A celebration of life service will be held at 12 noon Saturday April 1, 2017 at Courtland Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Carpenter officiating. Burial will be private at a later date at Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 30 2017 from 6 to 8PM in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
