Carrsville - Howard Christian Bradshaw, 66, passed away on October 26, 2026. He was born on December 4, 1959, to Rawls “Pete” Murdock and Mattie Cutchins Bradshaw.
Howard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Debi Tillery Bradshaw; his two sons, Brandol (Emily) and Sumner (Sonja); and his five grandchildren, Carly, Everett, Tristan, Sawyer, and Calvin, who brought him immense joy, especially during his retired years. He is also survived by his siblings, Melanie (Felton Beale), Steve (Jeanie), and Gary (Millie).
Howard worked as a millwright at Franklin Paper Mill, where he specialized in paper machine roll rebuilding and became known for his astuteness around all things mechanical. Outside of work, some of his happiest days were spent tending to the farm and enjoying time at the racetrack in his younger years. Later in life, his greatest enjoyment came from gathering with family at Gaston Lake, making memories with his grandchildren, sometimes as the loudest grandparent at the ball field.
Howard was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church where he shared his gifted singing voice. He gave back to the community through his service at Beaver Dam Baptist, leadership of Boy Scout Troop 37, and as a volunteer firefighter in Carrsville. Even as his own health declined, he could be counted on to show up when he sensed someone else could use a hand.
Howard's life was rooted in family, faith, hard work, and community. He leaves behind a legacy carried on through his boys, his grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched along the way. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Tuesday, November 3, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Ruffin Alphin officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to Boy Scout Troop 37, c/o Phillip Bradshaw, P. O. Box 1, Carrsville, VA 23315.
