Franklin - Hilda Marie Penyak, 84, formerly of Hayes, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Vosburgh, and her second husband, Daniel J. Penyak.

Hilda was born Nov. 12, 1936, the youngest of seven children of the late Hilda M. Blake and Joseph A. Mannion Sr.  Raised in Bethel, Conn., she graduated from Bethel High School in 1954 and later brought up her four children in Bethel. Hilda married Daniel Penyak in 1971 and helped to run the family business, Penyak's Liquor Store, in Danbury.  She was very active as an American Heart Association volunteer.  In 1980, Hilda and Dan moved to Hayes. In Virginia, Hilda worked for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as a purchasing agent for more than 20 years. She was a devoted member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Yorktown. Hilda provided loving care and comfort to Dan through a protracted illness until his passing in 2012.

Hilda is survived by her children - Richard Vosburgh and his wife, Lynn Tyson; Roberta Nassif and her husband, Namen; Robert Vosburgh; and Elizabeth Bockelmann; six grandchildren – Greg, Russell, Lauryn, Daniel, Tiffany and Ricky; and six great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by two of her siblings, Anne Herman and Margaret Brown.

The family is thankful for the friends, neighbors and fellow parishioners who selflessly provided Hilda and Dan with much strength and support for many years.  The family also appreciates the wonderful caregivers at The Village at Woods Edge in Franklin and Accordius Health Center in Courtland for their dedication to Hilda.

In lieu of flowers, mourners are asked that donations be made to the charities of their choice.  There will be a funeral mass on February 12, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Yorktown, VA.  Streaming information will be available.

A private interment will be held at St. Peter's Cemetery in Danbury, CT at a later date.
