Franklin – Helen Marie Story, 83, widow of Thomas A. Story, died January 26, 2010 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC. She was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC, a daughter of the late Magnus Henry and Nellie Walker Wheeler and was predeceased by two sons, Robbie Story and Roger Story and five brothers, William, Raymond, Vernon, Paul, and "Junior" Wheeler. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Smithfield.
Survivors include one daughter, Bettie Jean Barbier of Edisto Island, SC; two sons, Thomas Melvin Story of Woodbury, CT, Michael Allen Story of Garner, NC; three sisters, Bettie Ropelewski of Garner, NC, Mary Virginia Jenkins of Aulander, NC, and Nellie Mae Williams of Colerain, NC; one brother, Grady Wheeler of Goldsboro, NC; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild..
The funeral will be conducted at 2 pm today (Thursday) at Wright Funeral Home with the Pastor Donald Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Horeb Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
