Franklin – Helen Worrell Simmons, 88, passed away January 22, 2015 at her residence at The Village at Woods Edge. A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Bettie Edwards Worrell and was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Wallace S. Simmons. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Simmons was a graduate of Longwood College. She taught school in Danville, Hampton, Henrico County, and Southampton County, VA.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Holly W. Simmons, of Portsmouth, VA and nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral will be held at 2 PM Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Riverside Cemetery, Courtland with the Rev. John Ashley officiating. A reception will be held at The Village at Woods Edge at 3 pm. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 PM Saturday, January 24, at Wright Funeral Home and suggest memorials be made to High Street United Methodist Church, P. O.
