Courtland- Helen Brooks Nixon, 95, widow of Rubin Wayward "Nick" Nixon, died at her home, December 3, 2012. Helen was a lifelong resident of Southampton County, born in Capron, Va, she resided in her home place in Courtland since 1935. She was the last of seven children of the late James Robert and Vassie Lee Bradshaw Brooks. Helen was a long time member of Courtland Baptist Church and it's WMU and was retired secretary for Nick's TV.
Survivors include her son, Wayne Brooks Nixon and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Helen's life will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Courtland Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Speight officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. At Helen's request her burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Courtland Baptist Church P.O.
