Black Creek- Haywood Owen Barrett, 94, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Southampton County and was a son of the late Reuben and Gracie Barrett. He was also predeceased by his first wife Edith Mae Goodrich Barrett and two brothers, Harold and Boyd Barrett.
Mr. Barrett was a United States Marine Corps veteran, a member of Hunterdale Baptist Church and was retired from Planters Peanut Company in Suffolk.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Georgia R. Barrett, three daughters, Joyce B. Taylor (J.T.) of Eure, NC, Joan B. Sobotor (Johnny) of Black Creek and Glenda B. Eure (Elridge) of Eure, NC, two sons, William Tyrone Barrett (Diane) and Troy E. Barrett (Connie) all of Black Creek, fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, two stepsons, Roy and Lyle Cook, three step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, November 2, 2015 at Hunterdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Vinson officiating. Burial will follow at Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Sunday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin and suggests that memorial donations be made to Hunterdale Baptist Church. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
