Obituary

Franklin – Harvey Burton McLemore, III, 87, passed away May 30, 2026 after several years of declining health.  Born in Richmond, he was a son of the late Harvey Burton McLemore, Jr. and Alice Page Adams McLemore.

Harvey was a member of the first graduating class of Southampton High School (1956) and attended Randolph Macon College and Louisburg College.  Harvey was a kind, gentle, people person.

He and Judy lived in Falls Church where they were both employed by the FBI.  They returned to Franklin in 1963 when he went to work at Union Camp.  He was also a former employee of Franklin Equipment Co., St. Regis Paper Co., hotel manager at the Best Western Hotel, the 4-H Center and Paul D. Camp Community College.  He enjoyed each place of employment.

Harvey was a former Franklin Jaycee and Hunterdale Ruritan and a long-time member and deacon of Franklin Baptist Church.  He loved his church family and served as President of the Bruner Bible Class.  He loved his wife, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  (And they sure loved him.)  Harvey enjoyed his home, his community, and he and Judy spent many happy hours working in their yard.

A loving husband, dad, and gramps, Harvey is survived by his wife of 66 years, Judy Carr McLemore; a daughter, Alyce McLemore Collins (Roscoe) of Holly Springs, NC; a son, C. Blake McLemore (Liesl) of Kill Devil Hills, NC; a sister, Anita McLemore; six grandchildren, Meagan Martin (Caleb), Taylor McLemore (Carly), Lyndsay Collins, Christina McLemore (Ben), Zachary Collins (Bri), and Abbey Collins; and four great grandchildren, Marley McLemore, Riley Martin, Sophie McLemore, and Naomi Collins.

In his words:  Don't be sad for my passing.  Live life to the fullest and when the time comes, we will all be together again.  I'll be waiting for each of you.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM Friday, June 5, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Charles Qualls officiating.  Burial will be private.   Memorial donations may be made to Franklin Baptist Church.
