Franklin-Harry Herberner Shaw, Jr. 92 of the Village at Woods Edge and formerly of Portsmouth, devoted husband of Gladys Bunn Shaw for 69 years, died Friday at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Harry was predeceased by his parents, Harry H. Shaw, Sr. and Sarah J. Sutton Shaw; six brothers, Francis L. Shaw, John F. Shaw, George R. Shaw, Charles F. Shaw, Paul H. R. Shaw, Julian Mizell; and four sisters, Carrie M. Shaw, Anna M. Janson, Neva Holliday Shaw, and Eva Holliday Watson.
He was a retired Supervisory Naval Architect from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 38 years service, and member of High Street United Methodist Church. Harry has been very active in the Methodist Church, serving on various committees and singing in the choirs. He was on the Building Committee for the new Cradock Methodist Church, and on the Building Committees for the first and second units of Centenary Methodist Church in Portsmouth, and designed the shutters on the windows inside the sanctuary of Centenary Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Shaw Bowden and husband, Peyton, of Essex Junction, VT.; two grandchildren, Stephen Todd Bowden of Fairfax, Va. and Elizabeth Bowden Nuckols, and husband, David, of Essex Junction, VT.; and two great grandchildren, Ashlyn E. Nuckols and Christopher R. Nuckols.
A funeral will be held at 11 am Monday at High Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Reaves officiating. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends at The Village at Woods Edge. Memorials may be made to High Street United Methodist Church, P. O.
