Franklin- Guy Lloyd Pope, Jr., 68, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 peacefully in his home with loved ones by his side. Guy was the son of the late Guy Lloyd Pope and Anne Drummond Pope. He was a graduate of N.C. State, a former engineer at Newport News Shipyard and had retired as an electrical engineer from Union Camp Corporation.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Brenda Batliner Pope; four sons, Jonathan L. Pope and wife, Julie, of Pittsburgh, PA, David A. Pope of Elizabeth City, NC, Samuel J. Pope and wife, Sarah, of Warrenton, VA, and Daniel B. Pope of Franklin; three grandchildren, Olivia R. Pope, Bryce A. Pope and Luke P. Pope.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, with the Rev. Jim Hyatt officiating.
