Courtland – Grover Britt "Charlie" Edge, Jr., 87, passed away on November 12, 2023, in Emporia Health and Rehab.  Born on April 12, 1936 in Cedar Creek, NC, he was a son of the late Grover Britt Edge and Mildred Culbert Edge.  He was also predeceased by a daughter, Shelia Brewer, two sons, Gregory Britt Edge and Grover Britt Edge, III, and a son-in-law, Robert Dale Blythe.

Charlie was the owner of Charlie's Glass and Radiator, Cypress Bridge Manor Mobile Home Park, the Palm Tree Inn, and many other businesses around Smithfield, Emporia, and Franklin.  He was a former Mason, Shriner, Scottish Rite and Navy Veteran.

He enjoyed Nascar races, having a good time, fishing and helping others.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Peggy Stott Edge; a daughter, Cindy Blythe; two sisters, Shirley Williams and Faye Taylor; a brother, Kenneth Edge (Kaye); six grandchildren, Tanna Bennett (CJ), Dereck Blythe (Ashley), Greg Edge, Bradley Brewer (Crystal), Tyler Edge, and Leah Edge; many great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a special sister-in-law, Barbara Dement; a special daughter, Sheri Watson (Jack); and his beloved dog, Yo Yo.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM Friday, November 17, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Kidd officiating.  Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8PM Thursday in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the Courtland Fire Department.
