Newsoms – Gladys Futrell Edwards, 95, a former resident of Branchville and widow of Benjamin Clarence "Buddy" Edwards passed away May 8, 2013. Mrs. Edwards was born in Northampton County, NC, the last of eight children of the late Wesley and Nettie Futrell. She was a member of Branchville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole Elaine Harris (Arthur) of Rocky Mount, NC and Deborah Diane Edwards (Cynthia) of Wilmington, NC; two sons, Gene Edwards (Tobey) of Sedley and Rev. Darwin G. Edwards (Wanda) of Newsoms; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Edwards was predeceased by her siblings, Willie, Ray, Wilmer, Fred, and Harold Futrell, Ethel Howell and Joyce F. Daniel.
The family will receive friends at 1 pm Friday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin where the service will be at 2 pm with the Rev. Michael Baugham officiating.
