Obituary

Windsor – Gerard Francis "Jerry" Casey, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully December 6, 2024 in his home surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born in Scranton, PA on February 20, 1942 to the late Gerard and Mary Casey.  After completing high school, he went on to join the US Army.  He served three years in the Army and when he re-enlisted he joined the US Navy where he went on to serve for 21 years retiring in 1983 as a Boiler Tech Chief.  After retiring from the military, Jerry then went on to work for Newport News Shipbuilding, then to the Merchant Marines on the tug boats in the boiler room.  He then worked for Southampton Memorial Hospital in the boiler room and then onto Suffolk City Schools in the boiler room before doing many odds and ends jobs.

In November 1974, Jerry met Carolyn and on December 3, 1975, they married.  Carolyn had three children that Jerry was happy to raise. Robert White, Ricky E. White, and Earnestine R. White called him Dad from then on.  On February 13, 1977, Jerry and Carolyn had their first child together, Terry L. Casey.

Jerry was also known as Pop by the younger crowd.  He loved wood working and building things and had a love for planes and trains like no other.  Jerry was a great handy man but one thing stands out more than anything.  You had better be quite when his games shows were on.

He is predeceased by his parents and a son, Robert B. White.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn T. Casey; his children, Ricky E. White, Earnestine R. White, and Terry L. Casey (Jaime); five grandchildren, Carl, Josh, Harley, Brittney, and Damien; and extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Virginia for all the care and support during this time.

A Funeral will be held at 1PM Saturday, December 14, 2024 in Black Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Inman officiating.  The burial with Full Military Honors will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends in the church one hour prior to the service and suggests memorial donations be made to Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to Carolyn Casey.
