Roanoke Rapids, NC – Georgia Ruth Turner Barnard, 72, widow of George Wilson Barnard, died January 4, 2008 at the East Pavilion. She was born in Southampton County, a daughter of the late Joshua Taylor and Margaret Johnson Turner. She was a longtime Luzier Cosmetics representative and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Cathy F. Grizzard of Drewryville, VA.; her son, Carl E. Ferguson, Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Franklin, VA.; one sister, Rose Edwards of Lake Gaston, NC; three brothers, Rueben Turner of Jackson, NC, Leslie Turner of Emporia, VA, Bill Turner of Seaboard, NC; one granddaughter, Taylor Ferguson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barnard was predeceased by a sister, Martha Dunlow; two brothers, Ernest and Jasper Turner; and a son-in-law, Wayne Grizzard.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday in Beechwood Cemetery with Brother Jeff Haislip officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Saturday at the Boykins chapel of Wright Funeral Home. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
