Courtland - George Clayton Bryant, 70, passed away in his home on Friday, September 18, 2015 surrounded by his wife, son and daughter-in-law. Born in Franklin, VA on May 17, 1945, he was the son of the late Marvin Roy Bryant and Ruth Hufton Bryant. He is predeceased by two brothers, Stanley and Garland.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Dorothy McCormick Bryant, his son, David Alan Bryant (Jessica) of Quinton and a very special grandson, Adam Christopher Bryant. He leaves behind one sister, Maxine Davie of Virginia Beach, two brothers, Lloyd Bryant of Virginia Beach and Truman Bryant of Courtland and many nieces and nephews.

After several years in Franklin Civil Air Patrol, where he met Dorothy, George (Clayton) entered the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Tech Sergeant after 21 years of service. He served a tour of duty at Cameron Bay, South Vietnam where he came in contact with Agent Orange which is believed to have been the cause of the cancer that took his life.

He returned to the area after retiring and became a member of Courtland Baptist Church.

A niece called him "Dumbo" while out shopping in Wichita, Ks. In later years, a great-niece called him "Bumbo" and he is still fondly called "Bumbo" by his sisters-in-law, grown nieces and their children. He will always be our "Bumbo."

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, September 25, 2015 at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Jacksonville, Fl. 32256
