Obituary

Franklin – Frances Crumbley Pittman, 93, widow of Clarence Poe Pittman, died March 16, 2008. Born in Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Pope Barrow and Ethel Brannon Crumbley. Mrs. Pittman, who was a former bookkeeper for her husband's company, Pittman Wood and Metal Products, retired from the Franklin School Board office. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane P. Kovick of Palm Desert, Ca. and Rosemary P. Burgess of Casper, Wy.; two sons, Richard C. Pittman and his wife, Linda, of Fishersville, Va. and David B. Pittman and his wife, Susan, of Raleigh, NC.; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Kovick, Joseph Pittman and his wife Daphne, Stephen Pittman and his wife Natalie, Patrick Pittman and his wife Megan and Sarah Pittman; six great-grandchildren, Bethany, Leah, Christian, Elsie, Brannon and Claire Pittman; several nieces and nephews, including two devoted nieces and one nephew , Diane Youngblood of West Columbia, SC. and Angela O'Kelly of Maysville, GA. and Barry Bloodworth of West Columbia SC. She was predeceased by a great-grandson, Luke Brannon Pittman, and two sisters, Carolyn Williams and Eleanor Bloodworth.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2008 at High Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan M. Reaves officiating. Interment will follow in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Memorials may be made to High Street United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 218, Franklin Va. 23851.
