Ivor-Frances Louise Fowler, 78, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was born in Boykins, VA, a daughter of the late Lloyd Reynolds Shaffer, Sr. and Ella Gunn Shaffer, and was predeceased by three daughters, Betty Jean Stallard, Mary Frances Bell, Ginny Sue Ann Davis, and a brother, Harvey Roy Shaffer. Frances was a member of Millfield Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, writing and serving the Lord through her prison ministry. She is survived by two daughters, Sheila Diane Garner and husband Edwin Hal Garner of Ivor and Nancy Faye Mills and husband Herbert H. "Ikey" Mills, Jr. of Petersburg; one son, Charles Edward Fowler of Ivor; one sister, Virginia Shaffer Howell of Margarettsville, NC; one brother, Lloyd R. Shaffer, Jr. of Franklin; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Wright Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel with the Rev. Brent Hobbs officiating. Burial will be at Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Monday at the Boykins Chapel of Wright Funeral Home and suggest that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
