Capron – Florence Hasty Kirkland, 83, widow of Paul Henry Kirkland, passed away May 12, 2007 at the East Pavilion. A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of the late Frank Luther and Annie Burgess Hasty. She was a member of Capron Baptist Church and its WMU; a member of the Capron Fire Department Auxillary; and a former bookkeeper for J. T. Barham & Company.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Deborah K. Sutton and husband, Billy; her son, Kenneth P. Kirkland and wife, Mary Lou, all of Capron; a sister Grace H. Woltz; three grandchildren, Kevin S. Sutton and wife, Kristi, Katie L. Sutton, and Colby P. Kirkland; two great-grandsons, Walker James Sutton and Garrett Paul Sutton. Mrs. Kirkland was predeceased by four sisters, Bertha Joyner, Emily Peterson, Inez Matheny, Nell Whitley; and two brothers, Ryland Hasty and Luther Hasty.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday at Capron Cemetery with the Rev. Chad Brady officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 pm at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggest memorials be made to Capron Baptist Church, 23057 Main Street, Capron, Va. 23829.
