Newport News – Faye Johnson Martines, 80, passed away April 20, 2021 in Northampton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born on April 22, 1940 in Franklin and was a daughter of the late Lennie Rufus Johnson and Rachel Viola Griffin Johnson.  Faye is also predeceased by a niece, Kara Ruth Rothrock, and a nephew, John Alan Glasgow.

Faye was a 1958 graduate of Windsor High School and a graduate of Hicks Beauty Academy.  She initially opened a beauty shop in her home in Franklin and subsequently in Ivor, Windsor, Suffolk and Newport News.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 34 years, Alfonso Martines, Jr.; two sons, Edward Craig Williams (Penny) of Great Bridge and Steve Williams (Cheryl) of Sedley and; two sisters, Rachel Kay Rothrock (Patrick) of Norfolk and Joan Johnson Pavlina of Courtland; a step-daughter, Nicole Martines; five grandchildren, Casey Williams (Curt Lentz), Nicki Liverman (Chris), Randi Lessigne (Justin), Jamie Williams, and Casey Williams (Brock Rouse); 14 great grandchildren; a nephew; a great nephew; and many cousins.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2PM Friday, April 23, 2021, in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Kidd officiating.  Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
