Franklin- Evelyn Speight Joyner, 93, widow of George S. Joyner, passed away on January 23, 2013. Evelyn was born in Chowan County, NC, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Eason Speight. She was predeceased by two brothers, Burnell and Emmett Speight. She was retired from Roses Department Store. She is survived by her daughter, DD Turner and husband Mike; son, Roland Lee Joyner, Sr. and wife Brenda; three grandchildren, Justin Rainey, Roland L. Joyner, Jr. and Dillon S. Joyner; two sisters-in-law, Jean T. Joyner and Billie J. Wood.
A funeral will be conducted at 2PM, Monday, January 28, 2013 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. officiating. The burial will follow at Southampton Memorial Park.
