Capron – Ethel Pope "Dick" Francis, 94, passed away April 26, 2019.  A life-long resident of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Percy Ashby Pope and Ruth Leah Scarborough Pope and was also pre-deceased by her husband Linard Thomas Francis and her son Linard Thomas Francis, Jr.  She was a graduate of Capron High School and a member of Capron United Methodist Church.

Left to cherish her memory are a daughter Donna Francis Slagle of Emporia; three grandchildren Matthew Thomas Francis (Carla), Linard Brice Francis, and Johnathan Mark Slagle (Katy); seven great grandchildren Matthew Francis, Mallory Francis, Kaya Francis, Dalton Francis, Brayden Slagle, Liam Slagle, and Ben Slagle; and one great-great grandchild Kaleo Francis.

A Graveside Service will be held at 3 PM Sunday, April 28, 2019, in Capron Cemetery with Pastor Fred Brockhausen officiating.   Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, has charge of the arrangements.  The family suggests that Memorial Donations be made to Capron United Methodist Church, P.
