Franklin – Emily Meaghan Shanks, 19, passed away January 19, 2011 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was born in Chesapeake, the youngest daughter of Don and Kim Shanks. Emily was a graduate of Franklin High School and was attending Paul D. Camp Community College. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church.
Besides her parents, she leaves to cherish her memory her son, Rylan Emile Shanks; two sisters, Dawn Shanks of Alexandria and Jerilynne Shanks of Farmville; a brother, Connor Shanks of Franklin; paternal grandparents, Donald and Lida Shanks of Virginia Beach; maternal grandparents, Fran Earle-Owens and Sandra Kerbaugh of Franklin and Robert and Patti Earle of Oakley, CA.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Susan Reaves officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rylan Emile Shanks College Fund, c/o Bronco Federal Credit Union, Attention Mrs. Becky Scarborough, 135 Stewart Drive, Franklin, Va. 23851.
