Capron – Ellen Evans Harrison, 78, passed away June 1, 2023, in her home with her family by her side.  Born in South Hill, she was a daughter of the late Peyton Lee Evans and Gaynell Watson Evans.  She was also predeceased by her husband, William Kenneth Harrison, Sr., two sisters, Connie Howerton and Joan Wiley, and three brothers, Johnnie, Jimmy, and Jerry Evans.

Ellen was a graduate of Virginia State University.  She was a former teacher at Southampton High School and a former Classification Therapist Counselor at Southampton Men's Work Center.  Ellen was a member of Capron Baptist Church and was very involved in the church and with her family.

Left to cherish her memory is her two sons, William K. "Slim" Harrison, Jr. (Teresa) and Richard P. Harrison (Susan) all of Capron; a sister, Jean Moody (Bill) of Freeman, VA; five grandchildren, Brittany Brown, Kaitlin Gregory (Charles), Richard W. Harrison, Jesse Finch (Hilary), and Rob Finch; and two great grandchildren, Robbie Lee Brown and Cain Finch.

A Funeral Service will be held at 6PM Monday, June 5, 2023 in Capron Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Carr officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Capron Volunteer Fire Dept. or the American Cancer Society.
