Sedley – Elleise Tillery Hancock, 94, widow of Herbert Phillip Hancock, died December 24, 2007. She was born in Bertie County, NC, a daughter of the late David Linwood and Lessie Adair Taylor Tillery. Mrs. Hancock was predeceased by a son, H. Phillip Hancock, Jr.; four sisters, Marie T. Hancock, Beatrice T. Halsey, Beverly T. Johnson, Catherine (Kitty) Daughtrey; and three brothers, Henry, Julian, and Hubert Tillery. She was retired from Hubbard Peanut Company and was a member of Sedley Baptist Church and it's WMU.
Left to cherish her memory is her grandson, Jason Matthew Hancock of Ruther Glen, Va; one sister, Lessie T. Edwards of Franklin; one brother, T. Cecil Tillery and wife, Rita, of Sedley; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 am Thursday at Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home and suggests memorials be made to Sedley Baptist Church, 17494 Johnson's Mill Road, Sedley 23878; the Activities Fund of East Pavilion, 100 Fairview Drive, Franklin, Va. 23851; or a favorite charity. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
