Suffolk – Ella Daye Cridlin Couk, 91, widow of Merriman Reed Couk, died May 22, 2008. Born in Salisbury, N. C., she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Wyatt Cridlin of Jonesville, Va. Mrs. Couk was a retired beautician, a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of High Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Lawrence P. Cridlin of Jonesville; three nieces, Suellen Johnson Morse of Atlanta, Ga., Barbara Sue Cruz of Williamsburg, Pamela C. Cole of Newport News; two great-nieces, Dr. Hayley Morse and Channing C. Richardson; and four great-nephews, Eric, Christopher, and Jonathan Cruz, and Justin Morse. Mrs. Couk was predeceased by a sister, Jeannette Cridlin Johnson and a brother, John Cridlin.
A dual memorial service, along with Mrs. Jeannette C. Johnson, will be conducted at 11 am Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Susan Reaves officiating.
