Franklin - Elizabeth "Betty" Reeder, 84, of Franklin Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday May 19, 2026.  She was born on July 20, 1941 in Jackson Michigan to Harry and Olive (Bailey) Lawrence.

Betty graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1959.  She later graduated from Eastern Michigan University.  Her marriage to James "Jim" Reeder was on August 12, 1962.

Betty grew up in Brooklyn, Michigan and later moved to several cities in Michigan before settling in Dundee Michigan where she taught 4th Grade at Dundee Elementary School for many years in the 1970's and 1980's.  There were many students, co-workers, and friends that made her career so fulfilling and fun.

She and her husband retired and moved to Michigan's Upper Peninsula in the 1990's.  And, after the loss of her husband in 1996 she relocated to Brooklyn Michigan.  In the early 2000's she vacationed in Florida visiting her son and enjoying life again.  She would move again in 2002 to Franklin Virginia to be near her in-law's.

Betty loved cats.  At one point, she was known as "The Cat Lady."  She also loved music. As a member of Presbyterian Churches, she also loved The Lord.

Betty will be missed by her son, James "Jim" Reeder of Franklin, VA, her brother Gladwin McGee, Sister-in-law and Brother-in-law, Betty and Ron Alldaffer, many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends Linda Jeffres and Jack Madani.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry Lawrence and Olive McGee, her husband James, parents-in-law Russell and Velma Reeder, and brother Harry Lawrence.
