Como- Martha Elizabeth Burgess Parker, 91, widow of George Washington Parker, passed away March 17, 2013. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Bettie Elizabeth Brittle Burgess and was predeceased by a son, Alvin C. Parker, Sr. She was a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her five daughters, Patricia P. Smith (Loal), Betty P. Farmer (Norman), Mary Elizabeth Cuthbertson (Buddy), Wanda Parker (Ronnie) and Georgia P. Harrell (Rickie); her sister, Libby Lee Jernigan; twenty –two grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Buckhorn Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hackney and Rev. Sean Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorials be made to Buckhorn Baptist Church.
